Dear Holt Lutheran Schools Families (and St. Matthew Lutheran Church Members),

It is a blessing to be back in Michigan! I am looking forward getting to
know all of you and your child(ren). I will be sending out a Welcome
letter in a few weeks. I just could not let a few items of importance
wait till then.

As you may know we have purchased some new playground equipment. The
little one is up and getting used. The bigger playground equipment is
sitting in our pole barn waiting to be put up. To be able to start using
the equipment by the start of school we need to raise some money. We have
a few gracious donors who will triple the donations we raise! So if we
can raise $1500 from now till August 5th we will have enough money to put
the playground to use for our first day of school.
There are some changes here at Holt Lutheran, besides just me being new.
One of the major changes for this school year is our athletic program.
Athletics can be a big part of an individual’s life and school experience.
This year we will be splitting the elementary / Jr. High athletics from
the High School athletics. The 9-12th grade students will continue to
compete in the same conference with the MHSAA. The lil’ Hawk System will
be made up of students from the 5 – 8th grades. The lil’ Hawks will be
competing against other local Lutheran and Christian schools of the same
age range. There are many reasons for this change, but the ultimate
reason is to provide more ways for our students to Praise God and show
others His glory. The downfall of this change is, figuring out how to
schedule the gym and finding coaches. If you would like to coach either
one of our lil’ Hawks teams or our Hawk teams please come to the office to
fill out our new coaching application form. Right now we are still
looking for a lil’ Hawk girls basketball coach for this fall. For
students in 5th – 8th that were not going to compete before, if you would
like to compete, we still need a physical on file and the sport fee to be
paid.

The last important information I needed to let you know is, we are looking
for a person to run our after school care program. This person must be
qualified according to state mandates. If you or someone you know is
interested please let me or the office know.
I am looking forward to this year and can’t wait to meet everyone.
In God,
Daniel Burk
Principal
