After School Care
On-site child care is available on school days for students in grades K-6 from 3:15 - 6:00 P.M. (Half-day Wednesdays from 3:00-6:00P.M.)
Curriculum
The curriculum for elementary students includes instruction in religion, English, reading, phonics, writing, social studies, math, science, penmanship, computer, art, music, band (grades 5 and 6) and physical education. A Christian perspective in taught in all subject areas.
The curriculum for secondary students includes courses in religion, English, literature, grammar, writing, math, science, social studies, Spanish, physical education and health. Various electives are offered such as speech, drama, band, art, music, yearbook and more as instructors are available. The Word of God is integrated into all subjects and activities.
Extracurricular Activities
Drama Club
Junior and senior high school students produce an annual school play. Family friendly scripts are selected which have included Broadway musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof and classics such as Treasure Island.
Missions & Community Service
A variety of foreign and local mission opportunities are available. Students may choose to participate in foreign outreach with M.O.S.T. (Mission Opportunities Short Term), traveling to impoverished areas to help with building projects or conduct eyeglass clinics, and they may help the local community through charities such as the Holt Food Bank.
Music
The school choirs participate in both church and school functions. Community outreach includes visits to shut-ins and nursing homes.
Band is offered to students in grades 5 and up. Participation includes community, church, and school functions. Private instruction in piano, guitar and selected instruments is offered on-site.
Junior and senior high school students participate in soccer, basketball, and track for boys; volleyball, basketball, and soccer for girls. Holt Lutheran Schools belong to the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA). Our student athletes are regularly complimented for their good sportsmanship and attitude by officials, coaches, and other schools.
Elementary students in grades 3 through 6 may choose to participate in the Christian Youth Basketball League. The co-ed teams focus on good sportsmanship, Christian fellowship, along with skill development.
Off-Campus Education
Elementary students are offered hands-on learning opportunities during scheduled field trips. Junior high students participate in a week-long outdoor education program, and senior high school students attend a week-long field study that has included trips to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Birmingham, Alabama.
High School juniors and seniors may opt to attend courses at the Capital Area Career Center. Bus transportation is provided to/from the center in Mason.
